New Market splits into two very different kinds of work. The historic Main Street core — New Market is known as the antiques capital of Maryland — is full of 19th-century homes that need careful restoration: trim profiles, porch rebuilds, plaster and lath repair, and finish work that matches what's already there. Out from the core, the newer development and the Lake Linganore association communities are 1990s-and-later suburban homes where the work is interior remodeling and outdoor living.

On the historic homes, the work we do most is exterior porch and trim restoration, kitchen and bath remodels that have to work within an older footprint, and structural repair where decades of settling or past DIY changes left something out of square. Older houses rarely cooperate — we plan for what's behind the plaster instead of being surprised by it.

In the Lake Linganore communities and the newer subdivisions, it's kitchen remodels, finished basements, and decks or screened porches. Lake Linganore has its own association architectural review for exterior changes, which we handle as part of pre-construction.
